1、 Common types of circuit board short circuit

1. Short circuit can be divided into welding short circuit (such as tin connection), PCB short circuit (such as residual copper, hole deflection, etc.), micro short circuit in the inner layer of circuit board, device short circuit, assembly short circuit, ESD/EOS breakdown, electrochemical short circuit (such as chemical residue, electromigration), and short circuit caused by other causes.

2. Short circuit can be classified into line to line short circuit, line to line (layer) short circuit and face-to-face (layer to layer) short circuit according to wiring characteristics.

2、 Pay attention to these points when checking the short circuit of the circuit board

1. Open the PCB design drawing on the computer, light up the short circuited network, and see where is the nearest one, which is easiest to connect to one. Pay special attention to the short circuit inside the IC.

2. If manual welding is used, good habits should be formed:

① Before welding, visually check the PCB circuit board, and use a multimeter to check whether the key circuits (especially the power supply and ground) are short circuited.

② Do not throw the soldering iron randomly during welding. If you throw the soldering tin onto the solder leg of the chip (especially the surface mount components), it will not be easy to find.

③ Every time a chip is welded, use a multimeter to test whether the power supply and ground are short circuited.
