Over the past decade, global PCBs have continued to migrate to Asia, especially mainland China, which has rapidly become a major producer of electronic products and PCBs. Due to the domestic market potential and manufacturing advantages, China has attracted foreign investment, which has prompted the PCB industry in mainland China to grow exponentially in just a few years.
At present, in addition to the output value and sales of my country's PCB industry leading the electronic component manufacturing industry, the development of the industry has the following four brief characteristics:
Product use and market expansion. PCBs are the critical interconnect of electronic devices and are required for any electronic device. Especially in the current electronic informationization, data processing and communication equipment have put forward higher standards and more requirements for PCB.
The industry sector expands. The printed circuit industry has evolved from simply processing a circuit board to electronic circuit components, including the assembly of electronic circuit components and the development of electronic manufacturing services (EMS). Printed board manufacturers will provide electronic assembly services according to customer requirements.
Product grades continue to improve. At present, ordinary PCBs are still applicable to general electronic equipment, while the new generation of electronic equipment requires higher density circuit boards, which are suitable for the multi-function, miniaturization and lightweight requirements of the whole machine. Mainly to develop multilayer boards, flexible boards and high-density interconnect (HDI/BUM) substrates and IC packaging (BGA, CSP) substrates.
Production technology is further improved. In order to process high-density circuit boards, new process technologies need to be adopted in many aspects such as pattern production, hole processing, surface coating, and inspection. Blind/buried vias and build-up methods are commonly used. The development of new materials is suitable for HDI/BUM boards and IC packaging substrates, with better performance in electrical and mechanical aspects, and a large number of new laser and optoelectronic automation equipment will be launched.
In 2013, the PCB output value in mainland China reached 22.559 billion US dollars, accounting for 41.1% of the global PCB output value. From 2008 to 2013, the compound annual growth rate of China's PCB output value reached 9.4%, higher than the global growth level.
Since 2000, various types of PCBs in China have developed significantly, among which the development speed of multi-layer boards, HDI boards and flexible boards is higher than the average development speed of the industry, and the development speed of single-sided and double-sided boards is relatively stable.
In 2013, the number of domestic PCB industry enterprises was about 1,500, mainly distributed in the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta and Bohai Rim regions. The PCB output value in the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta accounts for about 90% of the total output value in mainland China; PCB production capacity in the central and western regions has also expanded rapidly in recent years.
my country's printed circuit board industry also presents a fragmented competition pattern. The scale of enterprises is generally small, and the number of large PCB enterprises is small. According to CPCA statistics, there were about 1,500 PCB companies in China in 2013, mainly located in the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta and Bohai Rim. In 2013, there were 50 large enterprises and super large enterprises, accounting for about 3.3% of the total number of PCB enterprises in mainland China.
According to CPCA statistics and calculations, the total sales revenue of the top 100 PCB companies in China in 2012 accounted for 57% of the country's total PCB sales; the top 20 companies accounted for 36.17% of the national PCB sales revenue; the top 10 PCB companies' sales revenue The total accounted for about 23.94% of the national PCB sales revenue, and the market share of the No. 1 enterprise was 3.86%. Similar to the development pattern of the global PCB industry, China's PCB industry is relatively competitive, and there is no oligopoly of a few companies, and this development trend will continue for a long time in the future.
